Presenter: Isaac Neuhaus, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of Computational Genomics at Bristol Myers Squibb, where he has spent 25+ years turning large biomedical datasets—spanning NGS, proteomics, and biomarker discovery—into decisions. He is the creator of CanvasXpress (canvasxpress.org), an open-source engine for interactive, reproducible scientific visualization, and his work focuses on computational genomics, visualization at scale, and the application of modern AI/ML and LLMs to genomic analysis.
Presentation Description: CanvasXpress is a mature, open-source visualization engine for interactive scientific data, offering a single chart grammar across R, Python, and JavaScript that renders entirely in the browser with no server required. The presentation contrasts the limitations of static figures with CanvasXpress's strengths: code-free exploration, figures that carry their own data and full recipe inside the image, and a complete EGoG audit trail that records every interaction as a reproducible grammar operation. It also showcases built-in AI and Model Context Protocol support that let users—and agents like Claude—build and edit charts in plain English, all flowing through the same reproducible audit trail.
